Introducing the World’s First Blockchain SIM Card: Interact On-Chain with Conflux and China Telecom

• Conflux Network and China Telecom have launched their jointly developed Blockchain SIM (BSIM) card.
• The BSIM card provides users with a secure digital identity, giving them access to Web3 and the metaverse.
• This marks the first on-chain, public use of the BSIM card, as an NFT was transferred from Shanghai Conflux Research Institute to China Telecom.

Conflux and China Telecom Launch Blockchain SIM Card

Conflux Network and global communications network China Telecom have unveiled their jointly developed Blockchain SIM (BSIM) card at the Xuhui District West Bank Artificial Intelligence Center in Shanghai. The BSIM card is a mobile user identification card based on blockchain technology which is fully compatible with mainstream mobile terminal systems such as Android and iOS. In addition to its traditional communications functions, it also can generate and store users’ public and private keys within the card.

Features of Blockchain SIM Card

The BSIM card provides storage space 10-20 times larger than traditional SIM cards and computing power several dozen times greater. It also implements encrypted storage, key recovery functions and even integrates traditional U-shield functions for protecting users’ private keys from malware attacks. Furthermore, it reduces the risk of users’ mobile terminals being targeted by malicious software attacks due to its “private key never leaves the card” manner of performing digital signatures.

First On-Chain Interaction Using Blockchain SIM Card

At the launch event, Dr. Wu Ming from Conflux successfully transferred a Commemorative NFT of the China Telecom and Conflux Partnership by pressing the send button within the app – marking the first on-chain, public use of the BSIM card. The NFT was transferred from Shanghai Conflux Research Institute’s BSIM account to that of China Telecom’s.

Benefits Of Using Blockchain SIM Card

The introduction of this new type of secure digital identity will provide users with access to Web3 platforms such as decentralized finance (DeFi), non-fungible tokens (NFTs), tokenized assets etc., with minimal technical barriers. By leveraging hardware security advantages provided by blockchain technology, users can protect their private keys more effectively compared to other methods available today.

Conclusion

The launch of this new product marks a significant milestone in blockchain technology adoption worldwide – with more applications expected in people’s daily lives in near future. As stated by Dr Wu Ming: “Blockchain technology has evolved beyond its reputation as a complex and inaccessible concept into a practical infrastructure for applications in global economy.“
