Reminiscence at Home
This unique project trains and supports volunteers who visit elderly people in their own homes and record their life stories. Many participants are frail, isolated or housebound with some experiencing short-term memory loss.
Our participants enjoy the opportunity to share their photos and mementos and discuss their lives. Volunteers are fascinated by the stories they hear of good and bad times; memories of the ordinary and extra-ordinary.
Memories recorded are used to contribute to a newsletter, exhibitions, events and publications. In this way our participants' experiences are shared with each other and the wider world.
Elderly people can refer themselves to the project by calling the number below or relatives, neighbours or friends can contact us on their behalf. Our referrals also come from sheltered housing managers, GPs, district nurses, carers, social workers and other agencies working with older people.
